Evaluating, the ballet, we must view it not in terms of its practise but in terms of its essential spirit.
Again it’s a question of attitude. Ballet must be understood in terms of its own attitude which is the impersonal one. The Classic attitude: What is it?
This impersonal or classic attitude colored the whole development of ballet.
Great ballet dancers have always been proud to be the interpreters of the masterworks of earlier great dancers and choreographers.
